In tonight's top news story about high gas prices, WMAZ's "13WMAZ Eyewitness News" introduced their latest news vehicle. A 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid.
The station is "testing" the vehicle and may add more to their fleet which currently includes late model Ford Explorers and Toyota 4 runners. Their live trucks are an 80's model Ford van and older Chevrolet Suburban.
WMGT "Todays MGT" also reported on high gas prices and they showed their compact news vehicle. Their fleet of news vehicles for reporters are all (non hybrid) 2004 Ford Escape SUV's. and a Dodge minivan purchased before the station re-started their newscast in 2004. They also have a Ford Ranger pickup truck.
WMGT's live trucks are Ford vans, brand new when the current news service began in 2004.
WGXA's fleet of vehicles have always been the most economical. They have used Nissan Sentras and Toyota Corollas for years. they also have a couple Toyota 4 runners. Their one live truck is an old (seldom used) ford U-haul type van.

When was in Macon, WMAZ had two old Ford Vans that, I believe were built by a company called E.N.G. They must have gotten two more live trucks from their sister station WXIA. They did not have the suburban when I was there. Interesting.
