Channel 41 in Macon started in September 1968 as WCWB. Changed call letters to WMGT in 1983. It was the first television station purchased by Charles Morris in 1978. The station is now one of FIVE owned by Morris Multimedia (Morris Newspaper group) Was always an NBC affiliate. This station had a news department that was disbanded in the early 1990's but resumed news operations in 2004. WMGT is now the second largest news operation in Macon behind former Monopoly and longtime leader WMAZ-13. Channel 41's original studio location was at the transmitter site on the "Cochran Short Route", which is US 129 ALT/Okmulgee East Blvd about 15 miles east of downtown Macon. Driveway sign Original studio building. Front windows are boarded up The station's owners renovated a vacant building in downtown Macon and moved the studio operations into Macon in 2000. Morris Network, Inc., the corporate entity for the entire Morris group of television station is located on the second floor of the WMGT offices in Macon. WMGT's current broadcasting facility. 301 Poplar Street. I thought it would've been bigger. If not taller, more space. WMGT's previous facility. 6525 Ocmulgee East Boulevard. It looks to be rather small, and in a very secluded like area.
I think it's great that WMGT is now offering a newscast product once again. I just pray and hope that the station could and might be considering an expansion newscast by late 2006 or early 2007. The 11pm newscast become a new 7-night-a-week newscast. The morning newscast remain a 5-day-a-week newscast, and the 5:30pm newscast remain a 5-night-a-week newscast.
I'm not exactly sure if I like their rebranding idea too much... "Today's MGT". I quite liked the "41 NBC" logo and branding. An idea I have in mind, vs. the current logo and branding. "WMGT TV"/"WMGT NEWS". Just a thought.

I have a couple of questions about Today's MGT: Is the new morning anchor Monica Lorriane or she just sub KeSha Lopez and Seth Bauguess. Is Jennifer Gordon, Ashanti Hathaway, and Heather Graff interns or reporters for the news. I have also notice on their website under the Employment link, they are not advertising for a co-anchor. Do that mean they hired someone or decide not look anymore.
