this is an awesome little chat room thingy. someone turned me on to this and i said, "i've got to sign up for this!" i especially like all the comments about ben jones being a wannabe comedian. wow, you hit the nail on the head! ...brilliant analysis. i think we should start a movement to have him banned from the airwaves. i gotta ask, does anyone in this arena know him personally? i hear he's a real lovable guy.

I just think that Ben Jones would be best used in an entertainment program.
He was the host of the short lived local version of "Survivor" on WMAZ and I think he would be great hosting a reality show or even a kids show.
This also brings an argument from me that local TV stations should go back to having local TV entertainment shows. There were so many local programs form variety shows to dance shows, cartoon/kids programs and High School quiz programs up to the 1980's. Some shows continued into recent years (WSB's "High Q for example) but local programs of this sort have died out in favor of syndicated CRAP.
Although I hate reality tv (and "Survivor" specifically), I wish WMAZ had continued with the local show (or anything simular) as I enjoyed Ben Jones in that arena more than watching him on a newscast. He really made the program enjoyable to watch.
I should also note that Ben Jones was a radio personality on Rock station Q-106 when he was a teenager. (he is in his early 30s now). I think Ben Jones would be great on radio if radio wasn't so polluted by the monopoly ownership of corporations like Clear Channel (who now owns Q-106)
I do not know Ben Jones personally. I have been within his presence several times and he seems to be a nice person. I do know someone who works at WMAZ and others who do regular appearances at WMAZ and I have heard nothing but positive comments about Ben Jones.
Ben Jones also briefly owned a business doing automobile upholstery work and there I have also heard nothing but compliments about him.

ya know, when i think more about it, it's really a shame that some people don't appreciate the work that goes into what he does. it's not as easy as it looks. critics always have the easier job.
