WMAZ-13 has changed its news theme!
(getting up from floor after falling off due to the shock)
The old theme was used since the early 1990's.
The old theme was the WWL News theme from the late 1980's/early 1990's. I have no idea what the new one is called but it sounds like the music used in promos for 13 WMAZ Eyewitness News in commercials in recent years.
The opening graphics have not changed much. The "Straight from the heart" campaign continues. In its 24th year!

Reading futher on the board and I read about several stations changing their news themes because of increased fees.
WMAZ used the WWL (New Orleans) news theme package from Stephen Arnold Music.
So it takes an increase in cost for WMAZ to finally update its theme to go with the "hand me down" news set we got last Spring.
What will it take for them to replace the 20 year old live trucks? One of which is seen in the "new" news opening.
BTW: whatever the new theme is, I dont like it.

SESAC has doubled the price on Arnold's music. As most of us are noticing, Arnold themes are being dumped from television stations left and right.
Most of the Media General owned stations are dumping Arnold themes, and some are dumping Gari, 615, and Rampage themes from their stations, in favor of this new "Media General Stations Group Package" by JDK Music... The new theme can now be heard on WSPA/WYCW, WNEG, WSAV, WJBF, and WRBL.
Sinclair owned stations are dumping the Arnold created "Sinclair News Music Package", in favor of this new "Sinclair Stations Group Package"... This new theme can now be heard on WLOS/WMYA.
WRDW has dumped Arnold's "Metropolis" in favor of 615's "In-Sink". WMAZ is currently using 615's "Seize The Day", after dumping Arnold's "WWL News"... WTVL/WJXX is also using "Seize The Day", since dumping Arnold's "Global Village".
WAGT and WRCB are still using "The Rock"... WDEF is still using "News Matrix"... WTXL is still using "Third Coast"... WAWS is still using "Extreme"... WTEV is still using "Overture". No word yet on if and when those stations will be dropping the Arnold themes.
