Wow, they've gone from 26 Action News to WAGT News to NBC 26 News to, now, NBC Augusta. I really like NBC 26 News better, however they're new news open graphics are very big market! Go to their website and click on Morning under the News button. Watch video.

Their website address changed from wagt.com to nbcaugusta.com over a month ago so I am not surprised about the branding change.
This station has always had a great appearance since they started their newscast a decade ago. I only wish WMGT in Macon could be as "polished" as WAGT. But overall, the Augusta stations all have large market quality.

For anyone who cares......NBC August's new graphics were created by Giant Octopus. This is the same company that created WXIA's HD Graphics. Also, if you go to You Tube, someone has posted the new open as well as the previous open and graphics. It is amazing at the difference. NBC Augusta's new graphics and music are pretty orgasmic. What do you think???

I notice they're still using the NBC 26 logo in their newscasts, instead of the NBC Augusta logo. Hmmm. I wonder if WAGT forgot all about it?
Graphics -- B-. I liked them when WAGT was going by the WAGT News branding. When WAGT rebranded the newscast to NBC 26 News in August, 2005, I sort of lost touch with the opening graphics, and the name bar graphics.
I had hoped that WAGT would introduce new graphics... I could picture them using a replica version of the NBC O&O graphics by Novacom, or Pyburn, despite WAGT isn't a network O&O station though.
Set -- D-. I would like to say that WAGT has had that same set design since 1995. In 2004, introduced this video-wall like backdrop. IMO, it definitely needs a makeover.
Theme music -- A-. I like it. I wan't sure if WAGT was going to dump it, in favor of something by Gari or 615. Seeing that a majority of stations across the country are dumping Arnold themes left and right from their stations.

I was working close to the Augusta area last week and actually watched WAGT for several minutes while on break at a local restaurant that had their TV tuned to the station.
I noticed they used the NBC Augusta logo on the corner of the screen during the syndicated program. But in a weather segment, the old NBC26 logo remained in the graphics.
Also in promos, it was clearly mentioned and shown as "nbc augusta". They just need to update ALL of their graphics.
Also, I know this habit is here to stay for the most part but I cannot stand watching television with a station's logo ('bug") in the corner of the screen during programs. And WAGT has had one for 15 years that I could remember as one of the first broadcast stations to do so. And the logo is a color logo somewhat faded unlike other stations that use a less visable clear one. The new NBC AUGUSTA "bug" is a distraction. Theirs in one corner and the network or syndicated program in the other corner of the screen . I hate it!
Closer to home, (Macon) I am glad that WPGA finally stopped with their logo on the corner, WGXA only has an occasional appearance and WMGT doesn't do it at all, although they did for a couple years in the 1990's. I wish WMAZ would remove theirs, which is on ALL programs, network, syndicated, everything EXCEPT religious programing. (why are they exempt?)
What is the poiint of all of these ornaments when watching TV distracting the viewer from the program?
Sorry for the rant. This has always bugged me and probably why I enjoy LESS broadcast and more Premium channels and broadcast programs released on DVD.

I agree with you, GARTV, that they need harmonious graphic brands. If they are going to be NBC Augusta, then be NBC Augusta all the way around. I also agree with another poster that they need a new set. Updating the same set that they have had since their news product began in 1995 is unacceptable. However, their set still looks pretty good for an old set. I wished they would get an interview set for their morning news show. They've also made some improvements to their newsroom which make their newsroom liveshot look a whole lot better!
I do like their new graphics. They look very "big market" campared to the other 2 stations.
Thanks for all the input and opinions.
