Tornados hit in many areas of Southwest Georgia and the Americus area suffered the greatest damage.
Adding to that is the GPB (Georgia Public Broadcasting) TV Affiliate that serves the city of Americus was knocked off the air by the storms.
WACS-TV Channel 25's transmitter was knocked down, crashing into the transmitter building. (Only a transmitter building exists, there was no "studio" facilities)
So channel 25 is off the air indefinitely. This signal also covered the Southern areas of the Columbus market not covered by Columbus' channel 28. Channel 25 also was seen in parts of East Alabama.
