WLTZ-38, the NBC station in Columbus has been sold to Sagamore Hill broadcasting. It was the last station owned by Savannah based Lewis Broadcasting (WJCL's former owner) Article in Columbus Ledger-Enquirer Newspaper www.ledger-enquirer.com/164/story/24790.htmlI wonder if the new owners will bring local news to this station. Or at least change the logo to something not so plain and boring;

I saw an article about Lewis Broadcasting's decision to sell ownership of WLTZ to SagamoreHill Broadcasting. www.broadcastingcable.com/article/CA6437753.htmWLTZ hasn't had news broadcasts since the mid '90s. I'm hoping that once the same is approved by the FCC, that SagamoreHill could and might be considering plans to begin a new news department operation for the Georgia-Alabama NBC affiliate. I do believe there is room for a 3rd news department operation, and that it's time for WRBL and WTVM to get some new competition... even though Columbus-Phenix City currently stands at 127 in the Nielsen's DMA rankings. Just my opinion.

In November 2007, NBC 38, www.wltz.com/,relaunched their news operations, utilizing local reporters and anchors from Independent News Network. The station partners with the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer for resources and coverage. On May 29, 2008 NBC 38 became the first in Columbus and the third in the state of Georgia to broadcast news in high definition. Independent News Network, www.inn-news.net/, is also used by WPGA a ABC affiliate in Macon, Georgia. They also produce the Spanish Language Azteca America newscast for WUVM in Atlanta, Georgia.
