It's been a few months and we still haven't seen regular opens on WXIA..just the camera panning around the set. The set and graphics are awesome, but something just seems missing without the open. WXIA's sister station, WUSA in Washington DC has a similar setup, but they do have a great open. There is video from WUSA on the Florida's News Center website: www.flnewscenter.comin the Beyond Florida section... To add a twist to this, on Sunday morning. I happened to catch a similar open on WXIA for a taped news program that they air at 11:30 am. The open was similar to WUSA's but with a faded Atlanta skyline in the background... It seems like they have opens from Giant Octopus, but they aren't using them...it seems like a waste!

I'd like very much to see a real opening, instead of the camera panning around the set. I'm like, "Christmas will be here soon."
I had hoped they'd consider debuting new theme music, when they debuted the HD newscast. They're still using "Alive V.2" by 615 Music. I suggested a theme idea to them, via e-mail. The idea I suggested to them, 11Alive commissioning a new news theme through Eddie Horst Music or Rampage Music, and the new theme be a rendition of the Tear For Fears song Everybody Wants To Rule The World.
The new theme. News... It come with 4 opening and closing themes, a weather theme, a sports theme, a sympathetic theme, a variety of news promos (hard, medium, soft, etc.), a variety of topical themes, etc. Image/production... it come with a variety of themes, some with lyrics, and some without. Just an idea.

11Alive used a "normal open" for the Evening News tonight, I don't know about the other shows though.

It is to my understanding that 11Alive could and might be dumping 615's "Alive V.2" theme for "Tower V.3" theme. I don't know this move could be coming as early as July or September.
If and when they do debut the new theme, maybe we will be seeing a new opening... and this time, it be a real opening.
According to 615music.com, "Tower V.3" has been commission by 11Alive and Gannett sister station WKYC... and NBC O&O stations WMAQ and WCMH. According to TVnewstalk.net, a discussion forum, including a topic regarding "Tower V.3".
