Bob Weaver "Weaver the Weatherman" formerly of WTVJ in Miami has died of cancer at age 77. I grew up watching "Weaver The Weatherman" along with other Florida TV legends Ralph Renick, Chuck Zink and Bob Mayer on WTVJ. WTVJ was Florida's first TV station, broadcasting on channel 4 from 1949 until 1995 when they moved to channel 6. WTVJ was a CBS station until 1989. It is now an NBC owned and operated station. And Bob Weaver was the station's weatherman for 50 years!. His last position was co-host of "Today in South Florida" which he hosted from the late 1980's until retiring three years ago. "Weaver the Weatherman" was very active in the community, especially with pet adoptions and school functions when I was a child. He visited my school once in the mid 1970's as well as the other WTVJ legends Ralph Renick and Kids TV show host "Skipper Chuck" (Chuck Zink). Mr Zink died earlier this year.
